Reviewing the week of December 2nd - 6th

Major Market Events:

🚀 Record Highs: A well-performing technology sector drove the S&P 500 and Nasdaq to new all-time highs.

💎 Bitcoin Milestone: Cryptocurrency enthusiast Paul Atkins was nominated to take charge of the SEC by President Donald Trump. Bitcoin expressed this change by piercing the $100,000 barrier.

📈 Economic Indicators: Approximately 227,000 jobs were added in November, well-surpassing the U.S. labor market's expectations

This Week's Winners:

🟢 Lululemon (LULU): Their strong earnings call coupled with the "spending" season approaching led to 23.45% increase in share value.

🟢 Verint Systems (VRNT): Surpassing the estimates for third-quarter earnings estimates, the stock price jumped 23.11%.

🟢 American Airlines (AAL): A promising future showcased by the fourth-quarter earnings forecast caused a 19.83% surge in share value.

🟢 Okta (OKTA): Outperforming anticipated results and deemed to have a positive outlook influenced a 5.99% increase in stock price.

🟢 DocuSign (DOCU): Third-quarter results exceeded expectations and inspired a 34.41% increase in share value.

This Week's Losers:

🔴 American Eagle Outfitters (AEO): Shares tumbled greater than 13% due to weak holiday sales and underwhelming quarterly results.

🔴 SentinelOne (S): Stock declined 13% after the third-quarter report exposed losses greater than expected.

🔴 AeroVironment (AVAV): Shares decreased 16.8% as the company failed to uphold second-quarter earnings estimates.

🔴 Foot Locker (FL): Stock dropped 12.87% as consumer demand decreased and the company lowered guidance.

🔴 Smith & Wesson (SWBI): Shares nosedived 20.26% following a warning that fire alarm sales were being impacted by inflation.

Upcoming Events:

📅 Inflation (CPI) and Federal Reserve Decisions: Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) in energy, mining, and finance industries are vulnerable to changes in inflation. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a measure of inflation. These sectors are highly sensitive to CPI and Federal Reserve Decisions; they play a role in determining cost, demand, and economic conditions.

🎯 Technology Sector: As earnings are released, strong results from U.S. technology companies may influence Canadian tech stocks to follow a similar path. Specifically, Shopify, a leading company within the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX).

🎯 Retail Sector: Costco is one of the largest retailers and their earnings call is scheduled for December 12th. Considering the size and significance of Costco, the results of it's earnings call will either validate or invalidate investors concerns about the conditions of the retail industry.

📊 Retail Sector: Canadian retail stocks are viewed as the "little brother" to consumer trends in the United States. Therefore, Canadian retail stocks may be indirectly effected and mirror the consumer trends present in the United States. 🧪 Biotech Conferences: The annual conference held by the American Society of Hematology is taking place. This may draw excessive attention to biotech stocks as new R&D are presented.

Next Week's Watchlist:

⭐ Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN): Advancements in AI chip technology and excessive holiday shopping revenue led Amazon to record high stock price.

⭐ Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL): Investors calling attention to Google's role in artificial intelligence.

⭐ Nvidia Corporation (NVDA): Honing on AI and GPU markets, there's potential for a 30% upside.

⭐ Meta Platforms Inc. (META): Recently labeled a ‘Strong Buy’ by analysts which reflects confidence in its growth and comforts common shareholders.

⭐ Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC): Recognized as a top growth stock within the semiconductor industry.
